- Now all new at 5:30. Let the good times roll at South Beach's new resort, the Good Time Hotel. And this project is about more than just fun. It's also about changing the way people think about Miami Beach. Developers teamed up with big names in the entertainment industry, producer and artist Pharrell Williams, and nightclub king Dave Grutman. And what came out of it is a resort you can only find on Miami Beach.

- Because I'm happy. Clap along.

ELIOTT RODRIGUEZ: Happiness. Is the name of the game at the newest hotel set to open in South Beach this week. A superstar duo teaming up with developers to open the Good Time Hotel.

PHARRELL WILLIAMS: They want a place where they can come and, like, not only eat, and drink, and have a good moment. But, man, come get in the pool. Come stay overnight. Come actually, come in. You know, come into our world.

ELIOTT RODRIGUEZ: The world singer, producer, and designer Pharrell Williams is talking about is opening up in a space that takes up one square block, between 6th and 7th streets on Washington Avenue, hosting retail, restaurants, and a 226 room hotel, all boasting the colors and the flair Miami Beach is known for around the world.

KEN FULK: You're going to come in from the street, and you're sort of immediately transported. You walk down this beautiful triple height corridor, down to-- you step into the lobby. And you're surrounded by this exotic, tropical, hand painted mural.

ELIOTT RODRIGUEZ: The colors feel like something out of Miami Vice, pinks and blues, and rooms designed to make you want to be outside.

KEN FULK: They're very much about having everything you need right at your fingertips, but really nothing more. They're intentionally small rooms, because it's really about being outside, about being with your friends, and celebrating.

ELIOTT RODRIGUEZ: And celebrate, guests will on a luxurious pool deck high above Washington Avenue.

KEN FULK: Everything is sort of elevated here, and there's this almost acre of a pool club up in the sky.

ELIOTT RODRIGUEZ: Why Miami Beach? It's simple.

MICHAEL FASCITELLI: Miami Beach has actually been, you know, a very unique destination in the nation for a long, long time.

ERIC BIRNBAUM: It's becoming sort of a real destination hot spot. I think, you know, 10 years ago or so, it was much more of a boom or bust type city. And I think that as Miami has matured-- and the pandemic, I think, has sped up that maturity-- it's become a gateway 24/7 city.

ELIOTT RODRIGUEZ: And as for the name--

DAVID GRUTMAN: Pharrell goes, you know what, Dave. Washington Avenue, Miami Beach. We need to change the narrative, and we need to change the narrative of what we're going to be doing in this space. So I think good time, but one word, Dave. Not two. One word is the way to go, and it just makes so much sense.

- Great message. The Good Time Hotel is already getting a lot of attention around the country and around the world with profiles published in Ocean Drive, People Magazine, and Architectural Digest. It officially opens its doors to guests on Thursday.
