Goodwill breaks ground on new Galesburg store

The city of Galesburg is one step closer to having a brand new thrift store.

Goodwill of Central Illinois held a groundbreaking ceremony for the city's new Goodwill location last week.

The new Goodwill will be at 2200 N. Henderson St., former home of the Sirloin Stockade.

The new store, which is expected to open next year, will offer more than 15,000 square feet of living space.

“The Galesburg community has been good to us, and they deserve an elevated shopping experience,” Goodwill President and CEO Don Johnson said in a news release. “The new location will be three times the size of our current location and allow us to offer more social services to the community."

Goodwill is currently located at 1338 N. Henderson St. in Galesburg.
