Google co-founder had lawyer draw up contract with the devil

Google is renowned for its curveball interview questions.

If you went for a job at the world's most valuable company at one time or another, you may have been asked something along the lines of:

‘How many cows are in Canada?’ or ‘how much should you charge to wash all the windows in Seattle?’

And as Google got off the ground, co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin often quizzed job candidates themselves.

In 2002, Brin was on the interview panel for Harvard graduate Alissa Lee who was applying for a position on Google’s legal team.

According to Ken Auletta in his book ‘Googled: The Of The World As We Know It,’ Brin put Lee’s legal acumen to the test by asking her to draw up a very unusual contract.

"Don't spend a lot of time on it. Draft it and send it to me and David so we can review your work."

And then the clincher: "I need the contract to be for me to sell my soul to the devil."

According to Auletta, Lee completed the task in half an hour, was offered the job and stayed at Google for the next seven years.
