Google and Facebook Voted the Best at Taking Care of Their Employees

Google and Facebook take a lot of hits: from users concerned with privacy, from the recent changes to net neutrality, and from competitors always looking to take them down. Still, throughout all their corporate frustrations, both technology giants manage to stay kind to their employees. Google and Facebook were voted some of the best places to work by Glassdoor reviewers.

Every year, Glassdoor puts together a list of the best of the best when it comes to paychecks and perks. Their list takes into consideration thousands of reviews for thousands of companies. Along with reviews, they ask Glassdoor users to rank compensation and benefits on a scale of 1-5: 1 is very dissatisfied, 3 is okay and 5 is very satisfied.

According to Glassdoor’s list of the Top 25 Companies for Compensation and Benefits, Google was the best, voted 4.4 out of 5 for compensation and benefits. 

The silver went to Costco (also a 4.4) and then Facebook (4.3). Adobe (4.2) gets an honorable mention, they were in fourth place. Notably, Apple did not place.

The list was made up of primarily tech and biotech companies. Costco was the only retailer to place. Salesforce, Intuit, Qualcomm, Microsoft, Amgen, Verizon and T-Mobile were all highly ranked. 24/7 Wall Street found “tech and biotech companies are so well represented [on the list] is likely because they have large engineering staffs, which tend to command high pay.”

The Glassdoor report also found that two out of five employees at most companies (those 25 excluded) feel they are not paid fairly.
