Google Search analysis reveals Japan second most popular country to move to, China fourth

Japan was discovered to be the second most popular country to move to in a Google Search analysis.

Using Google Ads Keyword Planner, Australian financial website Compare the Market analyzed key search terms such as “house in,” “Relocating to,” “moving to” and the names of 182 countries. Japan came in second as a popular relocation destination, while Canada came in first and Spain came in third. China was listed as the fourth most popular country to relocate to.

The website states that the research was conducted in English as “results in native languages proved to give inconsistent results.”

The analysis’ results found that Japan was popular with 31 countries in the world, while Canada was popular with 50 countries and Spain was popular with 19 countries. China was listed as being popular with 15 countries in the world.

Some online users in Japan were surprised, while others suspected that cheap living costs contributed to the country’s ranking.

“Japan is getting a lot of attention. Far from immigrating, the number of naturalized people is increasing,” one user wrote.

“English is not understood, there are only mountains, there are few farmland, there are few underground resources, and [Japan] has regular earthquakes,” a surprised user wrote.

“If you have savings and assets, living rent expenses such as [those in Japan] are relatively cheap in the current world of rapid inflation,” another user commented.
