Gophers freshman receiver Ike White said Monday he will enter the NCAA transfer portal.
“It’s time for me to move on to the next chapter of my football career and make sure that I make the right decision for myself and my family,” White wrote on social media.
White, of Philadelphia, played in two nonconference games in 2022, with two targets but did not have a reception. He has four years of eligibility remaining.
White’s departure comes after Minnesota added five receivers in the 2023 recruiting class, including three high school players and two college transfers.
White told the Pioneer Press on Monday night that his decision was tied to the influx of new receivers and the run-heavy Minnesota offense in 2022. He said he had no initial idea what schools might be possible destinations.
