Gorman named new Marion Town Administrator

MARION — The Marion Select Board announced that Geoffrey Gorman will serve as the new Town Administrator. Gorman will begin on Wednesday, March 1.

“It’s an honor to be chosen as the next Town Administrator for Marion and I look forward to building upon a foundation of work that supports the growth and improvement of the community," Gorman said in a realease. "There are many exciting projects and initiatives happening in Marion, and I look forward to working with the town's dedicated employees and supporting their efforts. I am also excited to meet Marion's residents and to experience firsthand what makes the community special."

In 2019, Gorman founded and served as president of The Falcon Foundation. The non-profit organization, located in Mashpee, seeks to further the educational and cultural development of Mashpee citizens primarily through scholarship and grant support.

He also worked as the head of field service for the northeast region at MilliporeSigma in Burlington since 2017. In this role, he oversaw more than 20 field-based engineers, worked with financial objectives, ensured proper training and more.

Gorman has many years of experience in military roles, including as chief engineer on the USS John S. McCain in Japan, as a senior strategic planning officer with the U.S. Army in Iraq, and as assistant chief engineer on the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower, an aircraft carrier, in Virginia.

He has held various positions at educational institutions, including the Surface Warfare Officer School and the Naval War College in Rhode Island, and the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.

Gorman also held roles in training and financial planning, and has served as an elected member of a local school committee where he served as chair, vice chair, and secretary during his tenure.

Gorman holds a master's degree in oceanographic engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology/Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, and a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of North Florida.
