Got holiday mail? Christmas-arrival shipping deadlines are here

With Christmas just over a week away, if you still have things to check off your to-do list, you’re going to want to move ‘sending out holiday mail’ to the very top!

The United States Postal Service says Saturday, Dec. 17 is the deadline for Ground Service packages and First-Class Mail to be sent out in order to arrive by Sunday, Dec. 25.

The USPS Christmas-arrival deadline for Priority Mail service is Monday, Dec. 19. For Priority Mail Express service, it’s Friday, Dec. 23.

For UPS, the deadline for Next-Day Air is Thursday, Dec. 22.

For FedEx, the Same-Day Shipping deadline is Friday, Dec. 23.

Keep in mind, the longer you wait, the more expensive the shipping will be!

The Postal Service has been preparing for the holiday rush for a while.

Since January, they’ve promoted 41,000 part-time workers to full-time positions.

They have also hired an additional 20,000 seasonal employees.

The USPS has installed hundreds of new sorting and processing machines across the country, giving them the capacity to process 60 million packages a day.
