A police officer in Jamestown, New York, raced to a house fire to rescue a family trapped inside during the early morning of Monday, July 19, dramatic bodycam footage shows.
Officer Mark Conklin was alerted to a possible house fire on William Street, where he found an adult and children trapped in a residence engulfed in flames, according to police chief Tim Jackson.
This video released by the Jamestown Police Department shows Officer Conklin’s swift and unflappable response to the scene. Conklin is heard directing the family to jump from their upstairs window, saying, “Jump. I got you,” before he proceeds to catch them.
“I can say that I have seen many examples of heroism over the years by officers,” Chief Jackson wrote in a caption. “After watching the video of this incident and speaking to others involved, I can say that the actions of Officer Conklin were, to say the least, one of the most outstanding examples of bravery, heroism, and exemplary service I have seen.” Credit: Jamestown Police Department via Storyful
