Gov. Greg Abbott has nominated three new regents to serve on the Texas Tech University System Board of Regents following the term expiration of three members of the board.

Clay Cash of Lubbock, Tim Culp of Midland and Shelley Sweatt of Wichita Falls are the newest appointees who will serve until Jan. 31, 2029, pending confirmation, according to the TTU System.

These three appointees cannot start their new roles until the Texas Senate confirms their nomination, which, according to the system, is anticipated to happen before the Board of Regents' next meeting in May.

The three nominees are set to take over vacancies of former regents Michael Lewis, John Steinmetz and John Walker, whose terms expired on Jan. 31 of this year.

"On behalf of the Texas Tech University System, I'd like to congratulate and welcome our three new regents," said Dr. Tedd L. Mitchell, chancellor of the TTU System. "Our system and component universities are experiencing tremendous momentum, and we look forward to each of our new regents joining our system family and collaborating with us to chart a bright future."
