"Since 1980, University of Georgia fans across the state and nation have longed to once again see their beloved Bulldogs be crowned national champions at the conclusion of the college football season," the proclamation read. "That long title drought came to an end on the night of January 10, 2022, when the Dawgs vanquished their longtime foe, the Alabama Crimson Tide."

The parade in Athens is scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the corner of South Lumpkin and Pinecrest streets at the Butts-Mehre Building. It will go down Lumpkin to the Tate Center.

The celebration in Sanford Stadium begins at 2 p.m. and is at capacity, but will be live-streamed on georgiadogs.com, SEC Network+ and Facebook Live.

And now it's state-sanctioned.
