Gov. DeSantis details plan for expanded sales tax exemptions in Florida

Gov. Ron DeSantis is proposing at least ten sales tax exemption programs in this year’s budget.

The sales tax exemptions would also include permanent exemptions on baby supplies and pet medicine.

The governor said the budget he proposed last week can handle the tax cuts.

Some of the other proposed programs include one-year exemptions on children’s books and toys, household items less than $25, and pet food.

He is also looking to extend the school sales tax holiday to four weeks with two weeks in the fall and two weeks in the spring.

The state legislature will take up these proposals in March.
