Gov. Larry Hogan Urges Federal Officials to Make More H-2B Visas Available to Help Seafood Industry and Seasonal Employers
- Well, new at 7 o'clock, crab season officially underway, and tonight Governor Hogan urging federal officials to make more visas available for seasonal crab pickers. The governor says failure to act would threaten our state's $355 million seafood industry. And this has long been a problem for crab business owners.
Right now H2B visas capped at 66,000 per year and given out based on a lottery system. Governor Hogan wants to see that cap increased and the lottery system come to an end.
