Feb. 24—Gov. Mifflin couldn't have gotten off to a much better start in its quest to win its third straight county title.

The top-seeded Mustangs didn't allow a point in the first quarter on the way to a 54-20 victory over eighth-seeded Brandywine Heights Tuesday in a Berks Girls Basketball League quarterfinal game at Shillington.

Mifflin will host Wyomissing Wednesday in a semifinal game at 7 p.m. The Spartans beat Wilson 45-43 in the quarterfinals.

Jocelyn Grosch scored seven of her game-high 16 points in the first quarter as the Mustangs (15-4) went out to a 22-0 lead.

Berks I champion Mifflin led 34-10 at the half.

Emily Savitz led the Bullets (7-9) with seven points. Brandywine won Berks IV for its first division title since 2002.
