Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL): Trump has a “Praetorian guard of conservative media...They just don’t hold him accountable.”

While campaigning in Iowa ahead of Monday night’s caucuses, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) said conservative media should hold former President Donald Trump accountable:

“Well, here’s the thing. This is not a complaint. This is just an observation. When I look at how you run a campaign … I just look at the world as it is. There’s going to be certain media against you, obviously ... He’s got basically a Praetorian guard of the conservative media — Fox News, the websites, all this stuff. They just don’t hold him accountable because they’re worried about losing viewers, and they don’t want to have the ratings go down. That’s just the reality. That’s just the truth … That is kind of the reason why I think he’s able to do what he’s doing — because the sources that Republicans are now looking to, more than any, are just not even engaging in any of this.”

On Thursday, DeSantis attacked Fox News for its town hall with Trump, saying, “I don’t think that there was very many critical questions,” and accused Trump of engaging in “massive gaslighting.”
