Grab your umbrella: Afternoon storms may drop up to 2 inches of rain in parts of Central Florida
Channel 9 is tracking storms moving through Central Florida on Friday afternoon.
3:45 p.m. update:
A wave of rain and heavy storms is rolling through the Orlando metro Friday afternoon and the area will have numerous downpours through the evening.
High moisture content continues to pour into the area in the mid to upper atmosphere as well keeping our rain chances high for Saturday afternoon and evening.

Get ready for a wet day ahead across Central Florida.
Channel 9 meteorologist Brian Shields said moisture is on its way up the state, bringing an 80% chance of rain and storms to our area this afternoon.

Some of that rain will be heavy, and some areas can expect up to 1 to 2 inches of rainfall.
Friday night’s scattered rain and storms are set to stick around.

High rain chances are forecast to remain on Saturday with an 80% chance and a high temperature of 87 degrees. Shields said that by Sunday, the afternoon rain chance will go down to 50%.
Saharan dust is also forecast to move in this weekend and next week, reducing air quality.
Next week, Shields said we can expect a 30 to 40% chance of afternoon storms.
