Will & Grace boss Max Mutchnick says final season was not an "easy year" following cast feud reports
Will & Grace's co-creator has opened up about the reported feud between cast members around the show's final season.
The sitcom came to an end last night (April 23), though much of the talk in the past year has been dominated by an alleged behind-the-scenes rift between stars Megan Mullally and Debra Messing.
Reflecting on the alleged drama and how they managed to bring the show to an end, Max Mutchnick admitted it had not been "an easy year".
"We always work under this kind of motto that everything's about the work," he told Entertainment Weekly. "It's just about the work.
"And so if we stay true to that, then we just keep you guys out of whatever happened on the set this year because it would have done nothing but get in the way of the stories that we wanted to tell.
"It was not an easy year, but the permanent legacy of the show is much more important to us than any temporary squabble that would take place on the stage."

Speaking earlier this year, NBC Chairman Paul Telegdy denied reports of tensions backstage, saying: "Some things come to a natural end. [Series creators] Max [Mutchnick] and David [Kohan] told the story they wanted to tell.
"Just wait for the finale. It's epic; it ties together so many threads. It is coming to a great, natural end."
Will & Grace's 11th and final season aired its last 12 episodes on NBC in the US. In the UK, it looks like the season will be going straight to DVD.
