Grace Health Medical Campus now open

Nov. 9—CORBIN — Grace Health Medical Campus opened to the public on Monday.

For long-time Corbin residents, the campus comes as a welcome replacement to the long abandoned Kmart building; it will also provide another avenue for receiving medical care for Corbin residents.

The 90,000 square foot building features several departments for different medical services. Grace Health Medical Campus will offer: pediatrics, primary care, internal medicine, preventive care, mental health services, dental care, and pharmacy services.

Grace Health has also partnered with Baptist Health to provide specialist services in the event they are required for some patients.

"After a tremendous amount of planning and construction the time has finally come and we are very excited to open Baptist Health Diagnostics and Specialty Care," Baptist vice president Mark Steely stated. "Through our partnership with Grace Health, Baptist Health is expanding accessibility to high-quality healthcare for the families of our community."

In an interview at the facility's October 25 open house, Grace Health CEO Michael Stanley made it clear that the primary goal of the new campus was to provide comprehensive care at an affordable price. By offering a variety of services at one location, patients are presented with less obstacles to receiving care.

Another important aspect of Grace Health is their participation in the federal 340B pharmacy program. The 340B program is a federal program that allows health care providers within low-income communities to offer out-patient drugs at significantly reduced prices for qualifying individuals. This program does cover diabetes medications like insulin, which is a drug of particular concern in this area. Additionally, Grace Health operates with a sliding fee scale, which is based on income, that further reduces costs for those with low income. Stanley noted that their participation in the 340B program helps to expand access to health care and lower the financial burden on families.

According to Stanley, patients come first at Grace Health. Stanley quoted the bible verse which states "love thy neighbor as thyself" as the primary principle by which Grace Health operates. Stanley stated, "We are a Christian organization with Christian values."

Over the past several years, Grace Health has expanded the number of patients they serve and the number of locations available for service — several of which have consolidated into the new Grace Health Medical Campus.

Moving forward, Grace Health has positioned itself to become a staple of excellence in healthcare for the community.
