Graduates of Milton's Curry College praised for resilience as 596 graduate
MANSFIELD − The 596 graduates of Milton's Curry College who received diplomas this weekend were encouraged to embrace the uncomfortable, keep a positive attitude and make a difference in the world around them.
“No matter where you wind up living after graduation, there will be communities near you where life is not easy and comfortable,” said former Supreme Judicial Court Chief Justice Roderick Ireland. “This is a reminder that while gains have been made, much remains to be done. ... Down the line, there will be an opportunity for each of you to do good and give a hand to those less fortunate than you."

Ireland, who served for served 37 years as a judge and was the first African American to serve as an associate justice of the Supreme Judicial Court, imparted life lessons to graduates as the school's commencement speaker. Curry College graduated students with bachelor's and master's degrees, as well as certificates of advanced study.
Class Orator Nicole Moreira, of Rehoboth, said that at Curry, she “became the happiest version of myself” while also acknowledging that she and her fellow graduates, who began college in 2019, faced numerous obstacles.
"We have emerged as a group of fighters − people with strength, guts and determination,” said Moreira, a nursing major. “If I could have only one word to describe our class, I would say we are resilient."
Sierra Fiore, of North Kingstown, Rhode Island, and Jake O’Brien, of Quincy, were the traditional undergraduate valedictorians. Alexis Pochay, of Marshfield, was named salutatorian of the class. Jocelyn Albertson, of Duxbury, and James LeBlanc, of Dorchester, were recognized as the continuing education student valedictorians, and Michael Frontino, of Weymouth, was the continuing education student salutatorian.
