Two injured in Grafton home explosion Monday; cause remains under investigation
Grafton firefighters responded after a house exploded on Monday morning, the Grafton Fire Department said.
Fire crews responded to the house explosion on Surrey Lane in Grafton around 11 a.m., said Grafton Fire Chief William Rice.
We Energies crews also responded to the home, We Energies spokesperson Amy Jahns said. "We have no reason to believe the incident is natural gas related," said Jahns.
The homeowners, one man and one woman, were home at the time and suffered non-life-threatening injuries, said Rice. The man suffered burns and was transported to St. Mary's Burn Center for treatment.
Damage to the home was extensive and it is no longer habitable. "All the walls have moved. A lot of the objects moved and windows were blown out," said Rice.
The cause of the explosion remains under investigation.
As of 4 p.m., crews were still on scene and Surrey Lane remained closed except for entry for local residents.
The Grafton Police Department, Cedarburg Fire Department, Saukville Fire Department and Port Washington Fire Department assisted in the response.
