Graham McGrath: FGCU student died after falling off boat on Lake Como. Here's what we know

The body of a Florida Gulf Coast University student was recovered from a lake near campus Thursday.

Graham McGrath, 19, went missing Wednesday night after falling off a crowded wake boat on Lake Como, Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno said.

The boat, a private vessel with a capacity of 16 occupants, reportedly had 14 people on board and departed from the Miromar Lakes side of Lake Como.

Multiple agencies joined in an overnight search for McGrath but low visibility on the lake made finding him difficult, Marceno said.

The search effort continued Thursday and authorities were able to recover McGrath's body.

The other 13 boat occupants are being interviewed and foul play has not been ruled out, Marceno said.

Graham McGrath was a 19-year-old student at FGCU. The sophomore from Illinois was in the school's construction management program.
