The Graham Norton Show viewers praise Jack Whitehall as he steps in as host
Jack Whitehall had a daunting task on his hands tonight (May 17) as he became the first person to guest host The Graham Norton Show in 20 years.
The comedian stood in for Graham because the presenter is currently in Tel Aviv getting ready for the Eurovision Song Contest 2019, which airs tomorrow night (May 18).
Jack carried on all the regular hosting duties of delivering the topical monologue and interviewing guests Gwendoline Christie, Luke Evans, Peter Crouch and David Walliams β and he went down incredibly well the viewers.
Those watching at home praised the comic's performance in Graham's absence, with many calling for him to get his own chatshow.
I have to say... I thought @jackwhitehall was excellent filling Graham Nortonβs enormous shoes @TheGNShow tonight. That was a really enjoyable, relaxed show. I like and respect him a lot more now. #grahamnortonshow pic.twitter.com/K1WWixNVkd

One person tweeted: "Jack Whitehall is utterly brilliant at this... Get him his own talk show!"
While another wrote: "If @grahnort ever decided to retire from being a chat show host (which should be never) then @jackwhitehall would be a fantastic replacement. Itβs been such a fun show to watch."
Jack didn't finish the night completely unscathed, however, as the audience member in the big red chair explained she had a bone to pick with someone on the show.
She revealed that she appeared on the show eight years ago and told a story that Jack, who was a guest on the sofa at the time, really didn't like and pulled the lever to send her tumbling backwards.
An embarrassed Jack apologised before, naturally, pulling the lever and flinging her backwards once again.
The Graham Norton Show airs Fridays at 10.35pm on BBC One, with Graham himself returning next week.
