Graham Norton's Wheel of Fortune reboot has been criticised by viewers for its format change meaning there is now no assistant.

The iconic gameshow, which was originally broadcast from 1988 to 2001, returned to ITV on January 6 for the first time in over 20 years, helmed by equally iconic chat show host Norton.

However, viewers have had one common complaint over the reboot's format. In the original run of the show, after contestants spun the wheel to determine how much each correctly guessed letter was worth, each letter was manually flipped over by an assistant.

But, in ITV's redo, the locations of the letters are revealed via a digital board – with no glamorous helper.

Viewers have taken to X (formerly known as Twitter) to voice their objection to the lack of assistant.

"Where’s the assistant to turn the tiles?" one user asked, cutting straight to the point.

Another added: "Wheel of Fortune just isn't the same without a glamorous assistant turning the letters round manually."

More viewers chimed in, adding: "Why isn't there someone turning the letters round? What is this insanity?"

A final viewer wrote on the platform: "Is this even the same with the board being computerised… I want someone turning the squares."

A few viewers lamented the lack of original assistant Jenny Powell, who helped front the show from 1995 to 2000.

"ITV missed a trick in not getting the lovely Jenny Powell back," one wrote, with another asking:

"Where is our letter queen [Jenny Powell] as Graham's glamorous, camp assistant tonight?!"

Stateside, long-running Wheel of Fortune host Pat Sajak recently announced that he'd be retiring from the role after a staggering 41 seasons.

Wheel of Fortune airs on Saturday nights on ITV1 and ITVX.
