Sen. Lindsey Graham voiced his support in favor of former President Donald Trump on Saturday, saying that he hopes Trump runs again in 2024.

The South Carolina Republican expressed his support of the former president at the Michigan Republican Party's leadership conference on Mackinac Island, three days after Trump released a statement bashing Graham. While Graham did not address the criticism, he said he supported a Trump 2024 run, drawing cheers from the crowd attending, according to the Detroit News.

"I don't think Trump is listening," Graham said. "He might be. I hope President Trump runs again."

Trump criticized Graham on Wednesday regarding a revelation in the recently published book Peril. Written by journalists Bob Woodward and Robert Costa, the book claims that Graham and Sen. Mike Lee of Utah were unconvinced of Trump's claim that the 2020 election was rigged. Graham and Lee were notably not among the senators who objected to battleground states' results in the Senate in January.

"Mike Lee, Lindsey Graham and all of the other Republicans who were unwilling to fight for the presidency of the United States, which would have included at least an additional four Republican Senators, two in Georgia, one in Michigan, one in Arizona, are letting the Democrats get away with the greatest election hoax in history — a total con job," Trump said in his statement.

Graham made no mention of Trump's statement and offered his support and gratitude for the former president, describing him as one of the most consequential presidents in American history.

"People ask me, ‘What happened with you and Trump?'" Graham told the crowd. "I say we found common ground. I’ve come to like him, and he likes him.”

While Graham offered his praise and support of Trump, he also said that Trump can be "a handful," adding that he has "got to turn it down a notch."

The discussion of Trump running against President Joe Biden again in 2024 has been a constant in recent months. A national Emerson College poll on Sept. 6 found that if Biden and Trump were to compete again in 2024, Trump would be slightly favored, with 47% against Biden's 46%, according to Newsweek.

Podcaster Joe Rogan predicted on Sept. 27 that Trump will run again in 2024 and will win if he runs against either Biden or Vice President Kamala Harris.
