Grambling State’s Sundiata Anderson picks up HBCU honor

Thanks to a stellar sophomore campaign, a Grambling State athlete is piling up the awards.

Junior defensive lineman Sundiata Anderson was named this week to the HBCU BOXTOROW All-American Team.

The junior accumulated 31 tackles, 21 solo, last season to earn All-SWAC first-team honors. The College Park, Georgia, native also led the Tigers with five sacks along with 7.5 tackles for a loss of 42 yards in 2021.

ELITE 8: Shreveport area's best football prospects for 2023

Anderson has already received Southwestern Athletic Conference Preseason first-team and Bluebloods Podcast All-American Preseason honors. He was also named to the East-West Shrine Bowl 1000 list. He topped GSU last year by forcing three fumbles while adding a pair of quarterback hurries and one pass breakup.

Grambling State opens the 2022 season on Sept. 3 at Arkansas State. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. from Centennial Bank Stadium and the game can live-streamed on ESPN+.
