There's everything from professional hockey to a performance by an iconic blues guitarist.
IceHogs
What: The Rockford IceHogs battle the Texas Stars.

Buddy Guy
What: Legendary blues guitarist and Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Buddy Guy returns to Rockford this weekend. Guy is an 8-time Grammy Award winner and was honored in 2015 with a Lifetime Achievement Grammy Award. His guitar excellence was a major influence on such notables as Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughan.
When: 8 p.m. Friday

Discovery Town exhibit
What: Discovery Town is a temporary exhibit where children play as they learn about the people and places that make up a community. While in Discovery Town, children can explore a variety of settings including a vet clinic, post office, theater, pizza shop, fire station, airport, classroom, town zoo and town park.
When: The exhibit, which is sponsored in part by Associated Bank, Smith Charitable Foundation and JL Clark, is open Tuesday through Sunday and runs through May 29.
Where: Discovery Center Museum, 711 N. Main St., Rockford
Cost: $11 for the public, free for museum members and for children ages 1 and under.

Great Backyard Bird Count Hike
What: Enjoy a walk along the Rock River Birding & Hiking Trail, guided by Will Rezin from Wild Birds Unlimited of Roscoe. The quieter the group is, the more birds you are likely to spot.
When: 7:30 to 9 a.m. Friday

Trinadora’s Third Friday Musical Potpourri
What: Trinadora members Janel Nelson and Ron Holm will present a musical mixture of vintage and contemporary pop, folk, country, jazz, blues, Latin, Celtic and variety tunes. Janel and Ron will accompany their vocals with keyboard, ocarina, guitar, ukulele, fiddle, steel guitar and other instruments.
When: 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday

Verses & Valentines
What: Janel Nelson and Ron Holm from the group Trinadora and poet Christine Swanberg will present a Valentine’s season concert of music and poetry celebrating all things romance. The event is an Inscape Collective production, presented by Rockford Urban Ministries.
When: 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday. On concert day, Inscape Collective will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A silent auction will occur during opening hours, offering beautiful jewelry, pottery, household items, and gift baskets.
Where: Inscape Collective, 201 7th St., Rockford
Cost: Free admission. Performers are paid by audience donations Admission is on a first-come, first-served basis. There’s a 50-seat limit.

Ikebana in the Gardens
What: Ikebana, also known as the flower way, developed alongside the tea ceremony with the introduction of Buddhism to Japan. The Ikenobo School of Ikebana began more than 550 years ago. Through the flower way – carefully observing how plants grow and arranging ikebana – you'll make discoveries about nature, others, and more.
When: 1:30 p.m. Saturday
Where: Anderson Japanese Gardens, 318 Spring Creek Road, Rockford
Cost: $40 for members, $45 for nonmembers. Fee includes the cost of flower materials.

Galli Lucha Libre
What: Lucha Underground and AAA stars are coming to the area. The event will feature the Star of GALLI Lucha Libre as well as Ricky Cruz, Dreambreaker, Bandolero, Furia Nocturna, Torero, Furia Nocturna, Septico, Majico and many more. Galli Lucha Libre mixes traditional Mexican Lucha Libre with American professional wrestling.
When: 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday
Where: State Line Sports Complex, 7003 N. Alpine Road, Loves Park
Cost: Tickets range from $20 to $50.
