Grammy Awards move to April in Las Vegas, causing CMT Music Awards to be rescheduled

Award season shuffle continued Tuesday with organizers of the 64th annual Grammy Awards announcing the show plans to migrate this April to Las Vegas.

CBS broadcasts the show live April 3 from MGM Grand Garden Arena, moving roughly 270 miles from its previously home, Crypto.com Arena (formerly Staples Center) in Los Angeles. The Recording Academy previously planned to host the 2022 Grammys at Crypto.com Arena in late January, but postponed the in-person show due to rising cases of the COVID-19 omicron variant.

The Grammy Awards kick off April 3 at 7 p.m. CST on CBS and online via Paramount+. Comedian and "Daily Show" host Trevor Noah returns to host.

CBS previously planned to host the annual CMT Music Awards, a fan-voted country music ceremony based in Nashville, on April 3. That program moves to a to-be-announced date later in the month.

The programming shift comes in a major year for the CMT Music Awards, which upgrades to a primetime network slot on CBS and Paramount+ after years of being hosted on cable television. The move comes after CBS parted with the annual ACM Awards, which announced last year an exclusive streaming deal with Amazon Prime Video.

A location and time for the CMT Music Awards plans to be announced at a later date.
