Gateway Celebrity Fight Night returned to Phoenix on Saturday to fundraise for cancer research and treat attendees to performances from Grammy-winning musical artists.

Earth, Wind & Fire, Nile Rodgers & Chic and Taylor Dayne were among the stars at the annual event, which was founded nearly three decades ago as a fundraiser for local charities and counted Muhammad Ali as one of its ardent supporters. The event's longtime musical director, Grammy-winning producer David Foster, hosted and emceed the evening at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort & Spa.

The live entertainment, dinner and auction with "coveted, one-of-a-kind luxury items" aimed to "deliver a knockout blow to cancer," according to a press release.

Last year, Celebrity Fight Night merged with Gateway for Cancer Research, a nonprofit that funds early-phase clinical trials for all types of cancer; according to its website, the organization has invested $95 million to fund more than 195 clinical cancer trials.
