The 61st annual Grammy Awards gave us plenty of memorable red carpet moments but if there’s one outfit social media just can’t stop talking about, it’s Cardi B’s.

The singer is known for her eccentric style, wearing everything from head-to-toe animal print to a regal red ruffled gown in the past year alone.

But on Sunday the 26-year-old added another major look to the list.

The Bodak Yellow rapper wore a vintage Mugler design pulled straight from the archives of the label’s Fall 1995 Couture collection for her red carpet arrival.

The dress, which was originally worn by model Simonetta Gianfellici, featured a sequin nude bodysuit and long black skirt that bloomed out of something resembling a giant clam shell.

The design also included pearl drapery around the singer’s hips, opera-length gloves, a bibi choker necklace and a twisted pearl headpiece atop of her head.

According to Popsugar, underneath Cardi B’s gloves was an impressive manicure that saw around 200 Swarovski crystals attached to each of her fingernails.

Fans had mixed reactions to the look on social media, with many praising the rapper for her over-the-top ensemble.

“Okay girl you’re rocking this outfit!” one person wrote.

Another added: “Love how absolutely extra @iamcardib is at the Grammy’s already.”

Others disagreed, writing: “Ok so I am a Cardi B fan…i mean since day one but this Grammy dress…Issa no for me [sic].”

For most people though, Cardi B’s outfit was simply great meme material, with the I Like It singer being compared to everything from Botticelli’s The Birth of Venus to a stack of Ferrero Rocher’s, coffee filters and Ursula from The Little Mermaid.

“Cardi B's Grammy dress looks like a mix between Ursula and a giant clam,” one person wrote.

Another added: "When you have the Grammy’s at 8 but have to be in The Little Mermaid at 9.”

The spectacle didn’t end there. The rapper also took to the stage clad in a cheetah-printed bejewelled catsuit as she performed her newest single Money in front of a large peacock father fan.

Cardi B later accepted the award for Rap Album of the Year – making her the first solo woman to ever win the accolade – in a white column-style dress and matching tasselled gloves.
