Grand Bee spells win for Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County

Out of all the words that participants in the Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County’s Grand Bee had to spell, it’s the one they didn’t face that means the most to the fundraising event: help.

The annual spelling bee, which took place virtually this year due to the pandemic, raised $20,000 for the Boynton Beach-based a not-for-profit organization that works to ensure that every resident of Palm Beach County is able to read.

With the theme “A Year of Mystery,” over 60 people participated in literary trivia and spelling competitions via Zoom. And the winners were: Team NCCI (first place), Keiser University (second place) and Tony’s Tornados (third place).

Participants received a swag bag and to-go meal from Park Avenue BBQ Grille.
