Grand Forks breaks record-low temperature

Apr. 20—Temperatures in the Grand Forks area dipped to 17 degrees Tuesday morning, April 20, breaking a previous record-low temperature of 18 set in 2013 and 1938, the National Weather Service reports.

Records also were broken near the Grand Forks Airport, where temperatures dipped to 16 degrees, breaking the previous record of 17 set in 1981.

Cooler weather is expected to stick around throughout Tuesday, with a high of 39, and scattered snow showers in the forecast, according to WDAY StormTracker. However, temperatures will return to near-normal on Wednesday, April 21, with a high around 51. Thursday, April 22, is expected to be sunny, breezy weather and a high temperature around 64, and Friday, April 23, will bring a chance of rain and snow.
