Grand Forks' Downtown Development Association 'Frosty Forks Fest' to offer fun for all ages

Feb. 8—GRAND FORKS — The Downtown Development Association is planning another "Frosty Forks Fest," taking over Town Square from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24.

The winter festival, including an expansion of the Average Person Winter Olympics, will feature a wide variety of fun (and competitive) activities for all ages.

The festival, which will include kid-friendly activities and exciting competitions, is sponsored by The Blue Moose Bar and Grill, said Jill Proctor, the DDA's CEO.

"If your family loves to sing 'Let It Go' (from the hit movie 'Frozen'), bring them to Downtown Frosty Forks Fest," Proctor said in a news announcement. "Our Frozen-themed karaoke will feature songs from Disney's 'Frozen' to help us celebrate the winter season."

Events will get under way with the fat tire bike race and run at 10 a.m., hosted in partnership with the Ski and Bike Shop, on the Greenway trails.

At 11 a.m., participants in The Cocoa Mile will enjoy cups of hot cocoa, run a quarter mile, and then repeat until they've run a full mile. No advance sign up is required.

Beginning at noon, kids will take center stage in Town Square for the Frozen-themed karaoke.

The Urban Stampede, the 701 BBQ and Half Brothers Brewing Company will be serving food and drink throughout the day.

Competitions for the Average Person Winter Olympics include everything from untangling Christmas lights, chipping ice, and moving your trash can through slushy snow.

"Everyone knows what a pain it is to push your trash can to the curb during this time of year. You have been training for this all winter!" Proctor said in a news release. "Now is the chance to put your skills to the test.

"At 4 p.m., we will find out who takes the gold when medals and awards will be presented."
