Grand Forks Fire Department, IAFF to raise funds with annual Fill the Boot drive

Sep. 18—GRAND FORKS — The Grand Forks Fire Department Local 242 will be out on the streets 3:15 to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, Sept. 19-21, collecting donations for the Muscular Dystrophy Association in their boots for their annual Fill the Boot drive.

Tuesday, Sept. 19, they will be at Fourth Avenue South and Belmont Road. Wednesday, Sept. 20, they will be at South 20th Street and 40th Avenue. Thursday, Sept. 21, they will be at 47th Avenue South and Cherry Street.

"Grand Forks Fire displays an unwavering support for MDA year after year, raising critical funds and awareness to help our families get the care they need," Regional Director of Fire Fighter Partnerships Elizabeth Nelson said. "We are so thankful for their continued commitment to cure neuromuscular diseases and to protect everyone on the frontlines in our community."

The International Association of Fire Fighters has been collecting donations during their Fill the Boot drive for almost 70 years. Donations to the MDA help people with muscular dystrophy, ALS and other muscle-debilitating diseases.

Those who can't make it out the event can donate through Venmo to @GrandForks-Firefighters by putting MDA in the subject line.
