Grand Forks Herald 12 North Dakota high school volleyball players to watch

Aug. 31—GRAND FORKS — The Grand Forks Herald selected 12 volleyball players from the Herald coverage area to watch ahead of the 2022 North Dakota high school season.

Cora Badding, Langdon-Edmore-Munich: The junior missed nearly her entire sophomore season with an ACL injury but has the ability of an all-state caliber player.

Eden Carrier, Cavalier: The senior 5-foot-9 middle hitter was an all-region pick last year who had 280 kills. She also had 56 blocks and 45 aces.

Sydni Culp, Hillsboro-Central Valley: The 6-foot senior was an all-region pick last year after registering 182 kills, 23 blocks and 19 aces.

Carmen Elick, North Prairie: The senior, who was also an all-region golfer, was an all-Region 4 choice last year as a part of the Rolla team that now co-ops as North Prairie.

Summer Hegg, Thompson: After registering just six kills as a sophomore, the 6-foot senior busted out for 425 kills as a junior en route to all-region 2 honors. She also had 81 blocks and 17 service aces.

Hannah Litzinger, GF Red River: The 5-foot-10 junior outside hitter racked up a team-high 208 kills, a team-high 38 aces and a team-high 286 digs last season for the Riders.

Keira Moore, North Border: The junior hitter was an all-region selection last season after piling up 218 kills, 337 digs and 32 aces.

Raina Satrom, Mayville-Portland-Clifford-Galesburg: The 5-foot-6 all-region pick as an outside hitter, the twin sister of Rylee Satrom, Raina had 260 digs, 152 kills and 28 aces a year ago.

Rylee Satrom, Mayville-Portland-Clifford-Galesburg: The 5-foot-8 junior two-time all-region choice as a versatile middle hitter, Satrom had 259 kills (36 percent kill efficiency), 42 blocks, 42 aces (96.7 percent) and 229 digs.

Sydney Schwabe, Thompson: The 5-foot-4 junior setter had 543 assists in the Tommies' two-setter offense last season. She also had 234 digs and 32 service aces.

Jalynn Swanson, Langdon-Edmore-Munich: The junior was an all-region pick last season with 1,036 assists. The two-year starter added 75 aces.

Jordan West, Thompson: The senior defensive specialist had 78 digs and 19 service aces last season but will step in to the vacated libero role of Thompson 2021 senior Bailey Munson.
