Grand Forks Herald's Top 10 players to watch in area high school boys hockey in 2022-23

Dec. 8—GRAND FORKS — The Herald selected 10 players to watch in our coverage area for the 2022-23 season.

Colton Bjorge, GF Central: The senior forward was the highest-scoring non-senior for Central last season. He was third on the team in points with 26 and had a team-high 19 goals.

Landon Carter Grafton-PR: The all-EDC senior forward from Cavalier, N.D., scored at least 18 goals for the third year in a row last season.

Mikey Coleman GF Red River: The all-EDC senior forward was second on the state champion Roughriders with 15 goals and 21 assists.

Tysen Loeffler, Thief River Falls: The senior is the top returning scorer for the Prowlers, finishing second on the team last year with 22 goals and 20 assists.

Carson Pilgrim, Warroad: The junior forward scored 17 goals and had 31 assists last season for state runner-up Warroad.

Brock Schultz, EGF Senior High: The junior forward was second on the Green Wave in scoring a year ago, with 14 goals and 20 assists.

Jayson Shaugabay, Warroad: The Minnesota-Duluth commit started this fall in the USHL but is back with the Warriors. He scored 27 goals and had 81 points for Warroad.

Hampton Slukynsky, Warroad: The senior goalie finished 26-4-1 for the state runner-up Warriors last year, posting a 92.5 save percentage and a 1.59 goals-against average.

Carter Sproule GF Red River: The all-state senior forward scored a team-high 18 goals and 24 assists last season for the state champion Roughriders.

Noah Urness, Roseau: The junior has started the 2022-23 season hot after tallying 24 goals and 35 assists for the Rams a year ago.
