Grand Illumination Parade returning to Norfolk this holiday season

Norfolk’s Grand Illumination Parade, held the Saturday before Thanksgiving, is returning after a two-year pandemic hiatus.

The parade that rings in the holiday season typically attracts thousands of spectators downtown. In lieu of a parade last year, the Downtown Norfolk Council packed the weekend before Thanksgiving with festivities such as Santa photos, holiday artwork and musical performances.

The theme for the 36th Annual Grand Illumination Parade, on Nov. 19, is “holiday magic.” Information on how to participate in the parade or volunteer is available on downtown Norfolk’s website.
