Grand Junction City Council selects interim city manager

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — Grand Junction’s City Council voted unanimously Wednesday night to extend a contract for interim city manager to Andrea Phillips.

The city voted to extend the contract to Phillips, former Pagosa Springs town manager, after the other finalist, Roger Tinklenberg, accepted an opportunity in Walsenburg and withdrew his name from consideration.

I was very impressed by her, and I’m excited at the prospect of having her come and assist the city for the next couple of months.

In discussion before extending the contract, councilmembers were complimentary of Phillips, with every member voicing how impressed they were by her.

“Of the three that we’ve had interviews with for the interim, I’m probably most excited about her and think that she would be a great fit for the organization,” said councilmember Jason Nguyen.

Andrea Phillips will start as interim city manager April 6.
