Grand Junction playground suffers “significant damage” from fire

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — Firefighters and police are investigating a fire that caused significant damage to the Pear Park Elementary School playground.

Grand Junction firefighters responded to reports of a fire at the Pear Park Elementary School playground at around 2:10 a.m. Wednesday morning. At around 8:55 a.m., Grand Junction Police officers responded to the scene and noticed a ‘significant amount of damage’ from the fire, per official reports.

Initial investigation shows three people on the property shortly before the fire. The Grand Junction Police Department is asking anyone with information about the incident to call non-emergency dispatch at 970-242-6707.

The GJPD reported no injuries from the fire and is currently investigating the incident. No further information is available at this time.
