Grand jury continues Hacker case

Sep. 23—Although his case was referred to a Laurel grand jury earlier this month, 70-year-old Lanny Hacker of London will wait another month before knowing whether he will face indictment.

Hacker was arrested August 31 and charged initially with first-degree rape, first-degree sodomy, sexual assault of a minor under age 18, and first-degree unlawful transaction with a minor.

During his arraignment earlier this month, Hacker's bond was set at $100,000 cash as it remains. The rape charge was amended from first-degree to second-degree, which carries a lesser penalty.

Not being included in the monthly indictment report released last Friday, Hacker was ordered to appear in Laurel Circuit Court on October 20 for possible indictment on the above listed charges.

He remained incarcerated in Laurel County Correctional Center at press time.
