The N.C. Apple Festival has selected Jack Ruff to serve as this year’s Parade Grand Marshal. The parade is the final event of the festival each year.

Ruff is retired from the North Carolina Department of Agriculture, where he served for many years in the marketing department, according to a news release. Ruff still volunteers in many capacities in the promotion of North Carolina apples.

Parade applications are still available for various categories including commercial and non-profit entries. Professional floats are available for lease again this year. If you are interested in a professional float, contact the Apple Festival office.

Information on how to participate in the Parade is available at www.ncapplefestival.org under the Parade tab. The cutoff date for entries is Friday, Aug. 26.

For additional information, contact the N.C. Apple Festival at 828-697-4557.
