Grand opening for Sheetz' Liberty Township location slated July 12

A grand opening for Sheetz' Liberty Township location – the chain's 16th in central Ohio – is scheduled July 12.

The 6,000-square-foot convenience store/gas station/restaurant at 3641 Seldom Seen Road, near Sawmill Parkway, took a while to come to fruition. The final development plan was brought to the township in August 2020 and didn't get the Liberty Township Zoning Commission's approval until January 2021, after residents had expressed concerns about light, noise, traffic and crime.

The grand opening will begin outside the store at 9 a.m., with the store’s official ribbon-cutting ceremony set for 10:45 a.m., according to a July 11 news release from Sheetz' marketing arm. The new location, which opens to the public at 8 a.m., also is to offer free self-serve coffee and soda for the entire day.

Liberty Township trustees vice chair Bryan Newell expressed optimism about the new location, including traffic, noting a right-in turn lane added to slightly widened southbound Sawmill Parkway south of the intersection with Seldom Seen.

"Obviously, we're happy anytime a new business opens in our community," he said.

Sheetz' first central Ohio location was opened in Delaware in April 2021.
