Granite Falls driver NHRA-bound

Feb. 27—GRANITE FALLS — Brad McBride is headed to one of NHRA's biggest drag racing events. The GatorNationals will be held in Gainesville (Fla.) on March 10-12 for the season opener.

"The GatorNationals is a huge deal." McBride said. "The fans are amazing and I am excited to race in front of a sell-out crowd."

McBride will be competing in the nitro burning A/Fuel dragster of LRC Racing based out of Wilkesboro. The team is entered in the Top Alcohol class, which sees cars racing at over 280 mph in just five seconds.

"What also makes this race exciting is the announcement by Tony Stewart, of NASCAR fame, to be competing in the Top Alcohol class," the Granite Falls resident said. "Stewart's announcement has brought a lot of attention to the class and to NHRA as a whole. There have been several new drivers licensed in just the last few weeks.

"Now is a good time to be in the mix with these top teams of NHRA," McBride added.

After a strong finish at the 2022 Carolina Nationals held at Charlotte's ZMAX Dragway, McBride is ready to build on that momentum as he heads to Florida to start the season.

He will be doing so with the help of Younce RV Sales of Hudson, Schaeffer Oil and Lubricants, FE Prints, and Roman Road Auto Restoration.
