Granite Falls man killed in rollover crash in Caldwell County: NCSHP

CALDWELL COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A Granite Falls man was killed in a rollover crash early Thursday morning in Caldwell County, according to NC State Highway Patrol.

The deadly accident happened around 4 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, on Burns Road near Oran Yount Lane. Troopers said a 1999 Pontiac Bonneville was traveling west on Burns Road, drove off the right side of the street, struck an embankment, and overturned.

Highway Patrol said the driver, Stanley Jeffery Burns, 64, of Granite Falls, died of his injuries at the scene. Burns was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle, they said.

Alcohol or speed don’t appear to be factors in the deadly crash, troopers said.

The area was closed for about two hours during the on-scene investigation.
