Granville Girl Scouts celebrate organization's 111th birthday

In celebration of Girl Scouts' 111th birthday on March 12, 65 Granville Girl Scouts and their families celebrated the milestone March 19 with "Friendships Circle the World." Participants sampled foods and participated in activities from around the globe. At the same time they helped neighbors in their own community by collecting items for the local food pantry.

Girls traveled around the multi-purpose room at Granville Elementary School getting their passports stamped at each stop. They played the game of petanque from France and Legos from Denmark, and had their names written in Hindi. They enjoyed alfajores cookies from Peru and coconut laddoos from India and sampled Japanese seaweed snacks. The afternoon concluded with a friendship circle and the singing of "Make New Friends."
