Granville soccer duo recognized as Licking County League's best

NEWARK — A pair of Granville soccer stars took top honors from the Licking County League.

Senior Ella Hoover was named the girls Player of the Year, leading the Blue Aces to a share of the LCL title with Watkins Memorial. Senior Graham Shoaps was named the boys Player of the Year, leading the Blue Aces to an outright LCL title.

Watkins’ Ben Schenko and Granville’s Scott Forster shared girls Coach of the Year honors. Northridge’s Kevin Krotzer was named the boys Coach of the Year.

Granville teammates Ava Labocki, Lyndy Van Horn and Hope Mahl joined Hoover on the girls first team. Watkins’ Lindsey Castillo, Maddi Daugherty, Anna Dudas and Jaylyn Thornton, Licking Heights’ Savanna Cronin and Emma French, Johnstown’s Cameron Goddard, Licking Valley’s Avery Williams, Heath’s Allie Dunlap, Lakewood’s McKenna Clem and Zanesville’s Rylee McCuen also were named to the first team.

Granville teammates Jackson Terry, J.J. Herro and Jake King joined Shoaps on the boys first team. Watkins’ Bo Howard, Parker Miconi and Ryland Owens, Heights’ Logan French and Luka Stojcev, Northridge’s Zach Holder and Tommy Diamond, Johnstown’s Chance McGinnis, Zanesville’s Cam Van Kirk, Heath’s Landon Montgomery and Lakewood’s Austin Masters also were named to the first team.

Granville’s Alysha Wallace, Audrey Nolan, Ava Miller and Izzy Lauffer, Watkins’ Gwen Blasco, Sydney Sapp, Ella Perry and Kiley Jones-Barrera, Heights’ Kaylyn Hopf and Zoe Kubinsky, Johnstown’s Abby Ruffle, Valley’s Reagan Campbell, Heath’s Rowan Hughes, Lakewood’s Ellie Conaway and Zanesville’s Emma Williams were named to the girls second team.

Granville’s Kale Timmons, Colby Caldwell, Grady Kirian and Johnny Wright, Watkins’ Julio Menjivar, Brayden Logue and Josh Hare, Heights’ Zack Wagenbrenner and Chris Anderson, Northridge’s Ryan McCutcheon and Braden Knerr, Johnstown’s Calvin Hurt, Zanesville’s Conner Baldwin, Heath’s Tyler Hudson and Lakewood’s Josh McNichols were named to the boys second team.

Granville’s Anna Nolan, Watkins’ Danielle Backus, Heights’ Ella Arnold, Johnstown’s Miranda Tyack, Valley’s Emily McCullough, Heath’s Brielle Keck, Lakewood’s Claire Conaway and Zanesville’s Michaela Bolen were named to the girls honorable mention list.

Granville’s Nate Federer, Watkins’ Cole Massie, Heights’ Ashtin Davis, Northridge’s Logan Knerr, Johnstown’s Hunter Groves, Zanesville’s Garrett McMillion, Heath’s Kamden Holmberg and Lakewood’s Cadence McNichols were named to the boys honorable mention list.
