Granville students star in American Kang Duk Won International Karate Championships

Several Granville students successfully competed earlier this month in the the annual American Kang Duk Won International Karate Championships at Watertown, New York. GRANVILLE ― After a three-year hiatus, the annual American Kang Duk Won International Karate Championships returned for its 46th edition earlier this month in Watertown, New York.

Several students from Granville competed in the tournament and had a successful day. It attracted competitors from Ohio, New York and Ontario, Canada.

Maddie Bloomfield (13) took home first place in Kata for 12-15 year olds, and first in Girls 11-15 Sparring; Ryder Bloomfield (11) was third in Kata for 9-11 year-olds; Grace Hopping (15) finished third in Junior Weapons, and first in Junior. Brown Belt Sparring; William Hopping (11) placed second in Kata for 9-11 year-olds, and second in Boys 11-15 Sparring; and Cooper Shaw (13) was second in Kata for 12-15 year-olds, and first in Boys 11-15 Sparring.
