GRAPPLER TIME: BHS matters lose big, win big

Bartlesville High wrestlers have ridden a roller-coaster of fortunes during a hectic week of action — a week of competition that continued into this weekend.

On Tuesday, the Bruins finished 1-2 in the district duals.while experiencing just about the widest gap of polar opposites as possible.

In the opener, Bixby blew away Bartlesville, 84-0.

The Bruins “wrestled poorly,” Bartlesville head coach Josh Pulsifer said.

In a team meeting after, all of the grapplers voted they would wrestle harder, Pulsifer said.

The Bruins then pushed Jenks hard. They tied it at 190 pounds but at heavyweight former Bruin athlete Maddox Perrier, who transferred last year, won for Jenks.

The valiant effort against Jenks gathered momentum for the showdown against Muskogee.

Bruin 106-pounder James Coleman rallied from behind on points and won by fall (5:47) to help spark Bartlesville.
