It was freezing cold, windy and almost every element kept it away, prolonging the wait for winter-time fun. Now, it's finally back.

Tubing at Great Bear Ski Area has arrived.

The Kirby Family Tubing Park will open Jan. 8 all day, from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m., according to a press release. The tubing hill is separate from skiing, which has been more regularly open despite weather.

To kick tubing off, the ski area is hosting a few events Saturday, including a night show of colorful lights to help you forget the cold as you fly down the hill. Lazer Tubing takes place from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m..

"Lazer Tubing is a special event happening twice in January and twice in February. Those events do sell out, so guests will want to go online to get their tickets," Alexa Jerstad, a spokesperson for Great Bear said.

Guests are highly encouraged to buy tubing tickets online to guarantee a spot for a desired session. Then guests fill out the tubing waiver online, just before a first visit.
