The Great British Sewing Bee will have a new host for its Christmas special and series 10 of the hit BBC show.

Comedian Sara Pascoe has hosted the show since series eight, following in the footsteps of Joe Lycett and original presenter Claudia Winkleman.

After departing from the sewing competition to await the arrival of her second child, the show will now be hosted by Ghosts star Kiell Smith-Bynoe.

The news was announced on the official Sewing Bee Instagram with a picture of Smith-Bynoe alongside judges Patrick Grant and Esme Young.

"We're bursting at the seams that Kiell Smith-Bynoe has stepped in to host this year's Christmas Special and series 10.⁣ (Sending lots of love to Sara and her new baby!)," the caption read.

The actor also announced he would be joining the show with a post of his own, writing: "I got 99 problems but a stitch ain't one. Filling the big knitted shoes of Sara Pascoe as host of The Great British Sewing Bee series 10. (Is knitting anything to do with sewing? I dunno, I've learnt nothing. See ya sewn [wink face emoji])."

In a similar format to the Great British Bake Off, Sewing Bee sees amateur sewers compete to become "Britain's best home sewer".

Hosted by comedian Pascoe since 2022, she announced she and her husband Steen Raskopoulos were expecting a second child earlier this year. Her first child was born in February 2022.

Posting a picture jokingly clinking a beer on her growing bump to Instagram, she wrote: "Here we go again. Eating for two and drinking for no one."

The Taskmaster favourite spoke to Breaking News about her fertility struggles and IVF journey as well as the benefits of becoming an "older mum".

"It depends how you frame things. There are days when you worry about your energy levels and then there are other days when I just think I'm just so lucky that it happened," she said.

All series of Great British Sewing Bee are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
