Great Plains Nature Center to hold Kansas Day celebration

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Emily Davis with the Great Plains Nature Center appeared on KSN News at Noon to talk about the upcoming Kansas Day celebration this weekend. The state is turning 163 years old.

To preview the event, Davis brought in the ornate box turtle, the state reptile, to show off. The turtle will be one of the many symbols of the state shown at the event.

To attend, the free celebration will be on Saturday, Jan. 27, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be games, crafts, trivia, and a naturalist program at 11 a.m. The center will also launch its 2024 program guide.
